About the Founder: Terry P. Welsh, CFP®, ChFC, CLU
Terry P. Welsh, CFP®, CLU, ChFC is the owner and founder of Alaska Financial Associates.
Terry is an experienced Certified Financial Planner designee (CFP®), a wealth coach, and an innovator in the field of financial planning. He works with individuals through major life transitions, and takes a holistic approach in helping clients understand, navigate and organize their finances through life’s changes, challenges and surprises. Terry also acts as his clients’ personal financial officer working closely with their other professional relationships thereby addressing advanced planning needs that are often neglected.
Terry integrates Financial Planning with Wealth Coaching to transform the Financial Planning process into an engaging and dynamic experience that teaches clients “Financial Leadership”: how to using money intentionally, with meaning, purpose and direction to create the fulfilling lives they desire.
With more than 34 years of financial planning experience,Terry understands the potential and inherent wisdom of Financial Planning as a process of continuous personal growth and sustainable wealth creation. Along with a bachelor of science degree from St. John’s University, Mr. Welsh’s credentials include:

- Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU)
Terry founded AFA with a goal to fill the void in personalized service in financial planning. As a Certified Financial Planner® Certificant providing financial, retirement, estate and asset preservation planning, his goal is to help clients pursue their objectives. Advice is offered only after taking into account the individual circumstances of a client, and that advice may not be limited to investments alone but may include all aspects of a client’s financial situation.
Terry began offering financial planning services in 1987 after graduating from the American College in Bryn Mawr, PA. He graduated from the College of Financial Planning, Denver, Colorado, in July 1990.
Terry’s Values of Integrity, Trust, Responsibility, Honesty, Respect and Compassion are
the Foundations of his Personal and Professional life.
A 34-year Alaskan resident and longtime philanthropist, Terry has worked as a volunteer for Special Olympics Alaska (SOA) for two decades, holding a variety of positions, including president of the SOA board of directors.
