While the body is complex caring for it is really not that difficult. Feed it well and tweak it a bit and it will not only tick on for a long, long time but, it can run smoothly and effortlessly like a fine watch. Unfortunately, many of us are conditioned to believe that we are able to inject the wrong stuff into this finely tuned vessel and at some point we can take a pill and we can live happily ever after. Well, as you know from your childhood stories, “happily every after” is more fantasy than reality.
Modern medicine is a big business and, unfortunately, Madison Avenue spends vast sums of money conditioning us all to believe that the products they hawk are beneficial to all of us. Sugar and alcohol are portrayed as sexy and tremendous resources are being expended to find the next miracle weight loss product.
Much of what we put into our body is as highly addictive as cigarettes (perhaps sugar is more so) yet, many of us choose to either be unaware or, disregard the long term impact of the use of those products. We can rationalize it because we have created a medical system that will react to our pain and suffering with a pill or procedure to make it appear as if we are caring for that which ails us. However, in reality, one pill or procedure will begat another which will begat another and another and another an another . . .
After experiencing our own healing crisis and observing that of others we have learned that there is another approach that will allow us to reduce the amount of pain and suffering that we experience during this thing called life. It is no mystery that diet and exercise are crucial components of creating the bodily experience we seek. Sometimes we need to get sick in order to truly get well. But getting well is generally not done through a pill to sleep, lose weight, or change the body’s vital signs. There is a difference between treating effects and adjusting the causes.
Success requires that we modify what we put in to change what we get out. Getting to the place of optimal health is a choice and there are many resources available to help with that process. As we look at life from an holistic perspective, we would like to introduce some of these resources to you.
